Resident Evil 2, the 2019 remake is based off the original version made for the Play Station 2 in 1998. This game is a two-character player option, having to parts. Having the individual choice of playing Leon S. Kennedy a police officer on his first day on the job, or follow the story of Claire Redfield a college student set on finding the whereabouts of her brother. Both having to venture through Racoon City’s Police Station and the underground sewers, killing any zombie affect individuals that stand between their goal of putting a stop to the virus and containing it within Racoon City. Facing many dangerous villains and monsters on their journey to put a stop to what is happening.
This completely re-imagined game has very well detailed graphics and an easy story to play along with and follow. Being able to play the game in two parts, choosing the individual (Claire or Leon) which you wish to play as. Both with separate story lines. You’re not the repeating the same story with each character you play. Unless you decide to play the same character in both part one and two of the story line, then there isn’t much of a difference, which sucks.
Resident Evil 2 is such a short game and the repetition of the game isn’t something that I personally was expecting from it, I like the element of surprises in games. Which made it a boring game for me quickly as you had to explore everything through your first play through, before you could progress further to the next level. There are three levels in total. Meeting a variety of different characters, having to be sceptical about who are the good guys you’re working with and the bad guys. As that isn’t made clear until their purpose throughout the story line is complete.
What’s good about this game is that it is informative and the story makes sense, with the repetition it means you don’t lose track of what’s important and you figure out the clues that are types of foreshadowing for further on in the game. Exploration within the game is intense and quite attentive. In part two of the game, since one of the villains is roaming around trying to find you, popping out of nowhere and when you least expect him to. Giving you small jump scares here and there. Was always shitting myself during those moments. Even though through the music you could tell he was coming after you, you still just didn’t expect it to happen when it did. There are many terrifying monsters within this game and in order to succeed you have to defeat them all.
The few things that I hate about this game is how easily bored I got of it. I wish the story line was longer than what it is. Because when the game was completed, I realised that I had expected so much more from it. Being able to change the character costumes Was almost as though the producers put absolutely no thought into the story line and how it could flow nicely and effectively. Was disappointing when I first completed it. Didn’t stop me from playing it a second time round though. But from hearing such great things about it, it was just such a downer. I wonder if anyone felt like this. If you did, please don’t be afraid to let me know down in the comments below. Would love to know your thoughts of this game so maybe I can potentially gain a different perspective.
I also believe that I need to check out other games in relation to the Resident Evil Series. As there are many more games that could potentially provide me with the explanation behind the ending of the Resident Evil 2 2019 remake. But that’s for another day.
I believe that this games deserves a rating of 2.5 controllers out of 5.
